Orlando, FL (5/30/08) - The African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida has recognized two Central Florida businesses and a successful entrepreneur for demonstrating outstanding community support and service. They were showcased during the Chamber’s Spring M-Powerment Luncheon which was held Thursday, May 22, at the Citrus Club in Orlando, FL.

Orlando, FL (5/7/08) - The African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida will host its Spring M-Powerment Luncheon, Thursday, May 22, 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Citrus Club, 225 South Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL. The luncheon will be keynoted by Nathaniel Goldston, III, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gourmet Services, Inc., the nation’s largest African American-owned food services management company.   

Orlando, FL (4/03/08) -Robert M. Spooney, Th.D. has been appointed by the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida as the organization’s new Executive Director. Effective March 17, 2008, Dr. Spooney’s leadership role includes managing administration and recruitment for the Chamber, as well as helping design and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Governors. Dr. Spooney succeeds Lonnie C. Bell, appointed earlier this month by Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty to direct the operations of the Orange County Government Business Development Division.

Orlando, FL (11/06/07) -   The African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida awarded high honors to Central Florida businesses with extraordinary accomplishments and commendable cultural diversity programs during its reception and annual Eagle Awards and Business Recognition Dinner held this past Saturday night at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Orlando, FL (9/7/07) –   The African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida has joined forces with State Farm Insurance to promote Family, Fitness, and Finance.  This free event, featuring Dr. Ian Smith, will be held Saturday, September 29, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at Barnett Park, 4801 West Colonial Drive, Orlando.  There will be wholesome food, live music and entertainment, an exercise class, a health walk, and event sponsors will present their corporate platforms.
